The Gardener (John 15:1-2)
"I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit He prunes so that it will be even more fruitful." John 15:1-2 What is the main goal of a gardener? Is it not to care for his plants in such a way that they produce a desired result? Plants left untended will die or fail to produce its desired results in most instances. That is where the gardener comes in. Plants need water! They need care! If a garden is not weeded, then the weeds literally choke the life out of the plants. The soil is important, but pruning is also very important. Jesus gives the illustration of a vine and branches to illustrate the "gardening" ministry of the Father. He describes Himself as the true vine.
